G/T Nominations for Testing

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Hamshire-Fannett Independent School District offers a program for gifted students.  The program strives to meet the goals of students with advanced intellectual ability by challenging and developing higher level thinking skills.

The federal government defines these students as those who require differentiated educational programs and/or services beyond those normally provided by the regular school program in order to realize their contribution to self and society.  Students nominated will be considered for selection based on the HFISD eligibility criteria for the program. Only three to five percent of a school’s enrollment is usually considered gifted so we are referring to only a few students.

Nominated students will participate in a series of tests to determine qualification along with a parent and teacher checklist.  School personnel, parents, or guardians may nominate students for this program.  If you are interested in nominating a student please send an email to kduval@hfhorns.net stating your child’s name and your request to have them tested for the gifted and talented program.  The nomination window will  be open from October 4th through November 5th.  If your student has previously qualified for the gifted and talented program they do not need to be tested again and will remain in the program.

Thank you!

Kay Duval, HFE Counselor
